![]() ![]() It feels like you're moving the characters through slime trying to turn or aim, it's a bit frustrating. What it does not well, in my opinion, are the controls. The updated graphics also add to it because some ghosts who already looked scary (like,Aiba is his name, I think) really profited from more detail. Even with the different colour filter they still managed to keep the essence of the game the way it was in the original. What the remaster did well is it kept the atmosphere the same. That might be a biased statement though because I've played the original first and like these Japanese terms more. On a personal note, I have to say that I don't like some of the official translations of some terms. The ambience in the lighthouse and the final boss music are great and give me goosebumps all the time. This game also has the best soundtrack in the franchise. And ghost design is as good as can be but the bloomed ones are scary. I think the atmosphere is great in both versions. I looked at it just yesterday for comparison. I also say the lighting is better in the remake because the original was very dark. They were pretty nerve-racking in the original. The remake has the nicer graphics (obviously) and the piano sections are way more forgiving. And you could move the flashlight and move independently. Shaking the Wiimote to evade and get rid of ghosts I did without thinking. I love how intuitive the motion controls are. The original has the best controls in the franchise. I think that was kind of lacking in MOTLE except for the ceiling ghost maybe? Absolutely love the ghost designs in MOTLE though, home to quite a few of my series favorite ghosts, like, how good is wheelchair ghost? I just wish the 'random encounters' didn't feel like 70% of the time it's just the same 3 ghosts in MOTLE, so many good designs to choose from and it's like, oh, here's these three again.īoth have their pros that would result in the perfect iteration. Ones that come out of the floor and move a bit weirder. I've gone back to play 1 again since finishing the MOTLE remaster and 1 has these really effectively used camera angle changes as you walk around and ghosts that do something other than just walk at you and teleport around a bit. I remember the original being more expressive. It's zooming in on the face of what's supposed to be a terrified teenage girl, and she's staring into the camera like she's looking at sour milk. One thing I didn't like about the remaster compared to the original was that everyone has no facial expressions. I don't think it REALLY matters or that people new to the game will care, but it's a bit of a shame to lose it because I really liked it. I kind of liked that each game sort of feels like it has a representative colour theme, and if they all just get remastered blue, it gets rid of part of the vibe the creators were probably going for as you wander around. I felt like it was a great colour choice to represent the era the game was set in. The yellow reminds me of aged documents and old wood and wallpaper. Personally, I don't think the blue filter made it less scary, but I did miss that decrepit old yellow the original sort of had. I played the original when it came out and the remaster I finished a few days ago. ![]() ![]() It’s also typically made using a click-and-lock technique, which utilizes a tongue and groove design, eliminating the use of any messy glues and dangerous power tools. Rigid Core Vinyl Plank Flooring: Rigid core is often made in four or five layers, which gives it its signature durability (and flexibility). So go ahead, keep scrolling to score the floor of your dreams. We even went ahead and picked out our personal favorite finds for each area of the house. So if your interest is piqued, keep reading for a few tips on scoring the ultimately luxurious floors without spending more than a few hundred bucks! We break down where to look, what to look for, and more. It’s like the ultimate design play: You’re paying a fraction of what you would for hardwood, but no one will be able to tell the difference. Ahead, we break down how to choose and buy luxury vinyl plank flooring. ![]() If you’re feeling skeptical, hear us out: Just like any design element, there are good options and lesser options, and we’re here to tell you which is which. You can even make it look like the real deal. In the years since, it’s gotten a bad rap for looking and feeling a bit cheap-at least compared to authentic hardwood floors.Ĭonsider this our PSA that luxury vinyl plank flooring does, indeed, exist, and there’s a way to make it both look and feel expensive. Back in the day (read: the years following the Second World War), vinyl was extremely popular because it was super-strong, easy to care for, and cheap to produce. If the words “luxury” and “vinyl” don’t seem like they should be beside each other, we are about to convince you otherwise. Today, we want to discuss an underdog we love: luxury vinyl plank flooring. The new collections will be rolling out throughout 2022.When it comes to your floors, there are a few options to consider beyond hardwood and carpeting. Here are some of the flooring highlights of the trade show for the tile, stone and floor coverings industries, held Feb. “You can’t forget that Nordic design has a lot of craftsmanship to it, and there’s a lot of rustic in Nordic design.” Along with freshened-up colors, there was more tile with a stronger rigid core and anti-slip surfaces. There’s a lot of Scandinavian influence, which is not new, but it’s a mix with Japanese design and that clean-lined look,” says Kathryn Gluibizzi, senior designer for Armstrong Flooring. ![]() “Everything’s going a little bit cleaner. The move to more waterproof products, bigger tiles and wider and longer planks continues as well. In general, flooring colors are warming up, with cool grays giving way to browner tones and more rustic finishes in both real and imitation wood and stone. The new flooring on display at this month’s The International Surface Event trade show reflected the continuing dominance of luxury vinyl, porcelain and laminate wood-look flooring, with stone imitations popping up all over. 12/2/2023 0 Comments Darktable users forums![]() Then I decided to switch from the Photo Gallery (WLPG) to something else because:ġ. It also tags video files which is great for me since video files are a part of my collection.Īt the end of 2015 I realized that the pictures I make with my iphone / samsung galaxy phone are not good enough for me anymore and bought a DSLR camera. It is way better for tagging plus I like it's simplicity for changing date/time as well as geolocation. Then I switched to Windows Live Photo Gallery. I think I'll build myself a dedicated linux box from not so old hardware and install this pre-package OS. Obviously it won't run the best in this mode, but should suffice as a start. One can burn it to a DVD and run the OS live from the DVD player in order to evaluate the programs (you'll have to ensure that you can boot from the DVD media, which may have to be enabled in the BIOS). It comes with most photo editing application built right into the download. There is plenty of support and install info available. For others that are interested in an alternative to Windows based apps, here is a link: Since I am familiar with the Fedora distribution, I did a bit of snooping and found that there is a software spin called Fedora 22 Design Suite. I especially like the ability to do localized edits. Looking at various You-Tube videos on this package, it strikes me as very usable. You have certainly roused my interest in Darktable. I have tried numerous raw-editors such as RawTherapee, Lightzone, LR, & Camera Raw. Thanks for posting this and welcome to the ever growing number of happy Linux users. Does it have a clone tool? I guess I'll have to install it and give it a shot. I have been so happy with Digikam for such a long time that I haven't tried Darktable. But, back in the old days, I would simply use the Gimp's or Krita's clone tool for removing any remaining dust from the final image. But, since I switched to the K5, from my old istDs, I haven't had any dust issues, so I haven't needed to use a clone tool. The only thing it lacks, as far as I am concerned, is a clone tool. It is amazing to have such a tool available for free and for freedom. PCLinuxOS and Suse are my favorites.Īs for workflow, I do almost everything in Digikam. (I hate not being able to rename folders from a File Save/Open dialog box.) So, I have been gravitating to distros that do well in their KDE implementations.
